Wastewater Division Recognized for Environmental Leadership

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has approved the Wastewater Division as a Bronze level member of the Clean Texas program. El Paso Water Utilities has been a member of Clean Texas since 2004.

Clean Texas is the state's voluntary environmental leadership program. Its overall goal is to produce environmental improvements, such as reducing air emissions, improving water quality, preventing pollution and improving compliance. The program also promotes and recognizes the enhanced environmental performance achieved by its members.

Bronze members of Clean Texas commit to setting measurable goals for environmental improvement – goals which go beyond regulatory requirements, apply to areas that are not regulated, or initiate environmental service projects. The Wastewater Division implemented its Environmental Management System, which puts into practice steps that reduce negative environmental impacts to the city and surrounding areas.
