David Nemir - Member


David Nemir is the founder and president of TXL Group, Inc., an El Paso company that is developing thermoelectric (heat to electricity) technology for capturing value from waste heat.

A registered Texas Professional Engineer, Dr. Nemir is a graduate of Purdue University (PhD in electrical engineering) and the University of Texas at El Paso (MBA). He earned his master’s degree in electrical engineering from Gannon University in Erie, Penn, and his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas in Austin.

Dr. Nemir worked at General Electric Co. and Purdue University before coming to El Paso in 1987 to join the engineering faculty at the University of Texas at El Paso. In 1996, he left to found X-L Synergy, an El Paso developer of electrical shock protection technology. He has been awarded 13 U.S. patents.

Dr. Nemir has served on a number of boards including the El Paso County Ethics Commission, the Advisory Board for the UTEP Center for Research Entrepreneurship and the Underwriters Laboratories Committees that oversee national standards for arc and ground fault safety devices.

His term on the Public Service Board expires December 31, 2014.
