Unique Characteristics

Smooth, gray-green, strongly aromatic leaves on erect woody stems topped with interesting fragrant, lavender-blue flowers in tight successive whorls encircling the stalks in summer.


Potential Problems

Excellent drainage is mandatory. Water sparingly in summer to avoid root rot. Aroma of foliage and flowers unpleasant to some.

Other Comments

Occasional selective pruning will invigorate an overly woody plant, producing more foliage and flowers. Native to coastal Southern California.
