El Paso — Several local students will be recognized for their creativity on Saturday at the EPWU annual poster contest awards ceremony. Every year, students in grades kinder through high school are encouraged to submit their drawings for the contest which takes place the first week in May in celebration of Drinking Water Week.

“We are extremely happy with the turn out to celebrate Drinking Water Week,” said Anai Padilla, Water Conservation and TecH2O Center manager. “This year we asked area students to incorporate how much they know about TecH2O in their poster as well as a water conservation message. The message is clear to the students, we need to take care of our water supply and conservation is a way of life in El Paso.”

For over thirty years, the American Water Works Association and its members have taken part in Drinking Water Week, celebrating and recognizing the importance of water in one’s daily life. The poster contest serves as a way of educating students and allowing them to be expressive through art. This year’s theme was, “What do I know about TecH2O.”
