Over 30 teams have signed up to participate in the El Paso Water Utilities and Touchstone Golf Team Championship Golf Tournament to benefit the USO at Painted Dunes Desert Golf Course. The four person scramble will host a variety of teams including one from The El Paso Times, El Paso Electric, and even one sponsored by Congressman Silvestre Reyes.

Over 50 wounded warriors will be in attendance and will be treated to a golf clinic by golf professionals from local golf courses. The MC for the event will be popular local comedian, George Jimenez.

The $100 entry fee includes a cart, a full breakfast buffet, a barbeque lunch, a tournament goodie bag, drinks and the green fee. All proceeds will go to benefit the USO.

“This spring, the Public Service Board decided to sponsor the USO for 2009,” said EPWU Vice President Nick Costanzo. “For the past few months EPWU employees have been hosting various fundraising events such as the golf tournament to raise funds for the USO who is currently in the process of building a new facility for troops stationed or just passing through Fort Bliss. The money raised will be used for the purchase of computers, furniture, and televisions for the new facility.”
