El Paso — The 2009-10 fiscal year for the Public Service Board began March 1, and along with it comes reduced stormwater fees for school districts, social services and non-profit agencies.

Stormwater fees for El Paso ISD, Ysleta ISD, Socorro ISD and Canutillo ISD have been reduced to 10 percent of the non-residential fee. In FY 08-09, school districts paid 25 percent of the non-residential fee, for a total of $18,819 per month. This will be reduced to $7,528, a combined savings of $11,291 per month.

Social service and non-profit entities also paid 25 percent of the non-residential fee in FY 08-09. Their rates have also been reduced to 10 percent of the non-residential stormwater fee. Customers who currently pay the reduced stormwater fee will automatically see the increased discount applied to their account effective March 1.

“In light of today’s stressed economy, the stormwater fee for non-profits and social services has been reduced to help them control costs and continue their services” said Ed Archuleta, President and CEO.

To qualify for the reduced rate, an agency must complete and return the “non-profit credit application,” which can be obtained by calling our Customer Service section at 594-5500 or from our website at http://www.epwu.org/stormwater/pdf/non-profit_credit.pdf.  Documents confirming the agency’s eligibility under one of the following IRS categories – 501(C)(3), 501(C)(4), 501(C)(19) or 501(C)(23) – must be included with the application.

Agencies can submit the application electronically to customer.service@epwu.org or by fax to 594-5660. They can also return the completed application to the address below.
