El Paso - In a special Public Service Board meeting this morning, the Board elected Richard O. Martinez as the new Chair. Former Chair Ruben Guerra resigned from the Board last month to focus on his business and spend more time with his family. Martinez is in his second term on the PSB and previously held the positions of Secretary/Treasurer and Vice Chair.

“I am excited about taking on this position because we have an outstanding Board with an excellent track record. I will facilitate the Board meetings, but in reality our success boils down to the voice of all members. We’ll continue working as a team for our community,” said Martinez.

Martinez is a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso where he received a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is also President of the UTEP Alumni Association. Martinez has held a number of engineering positions at White Sands Missile Range, and is currently Chief of the Tactical Missiles Branch.

The Board also elected Fermin Acosta, Jr. as the Vice Chair, and Maria Teran as Secretary/Treasurer. Their next scheduled Board meeting is September 23rd, at 8:30 a.m.
