The first of three public meetings to discuss the development of a Stormwater Master Plan for the County of El Paso will be held on Wednesday, September 16. The project is being funded jointly by El Paso County and the Texas Water Development Board, with project management services provided by EPWU. URS, an engineering firm, has been hired to complete the study which will identify flooding locations in the County and recommend improvements.
“This is the first step towards providing relief to County areas that have historic flooding issues,” said EPWU President and CEO Ed Archuleta. “A comprehensive plan should be in place before any plans for improvements move forward.”
The purpose of the meeting is to provide background and the intent of the Stormwater Master Plan and get public input. The project findings will be summarized in a written report describing repeated problem flood areas and potential measures to prevent future flooding. The public is invited to attend, and written and oral comments will be accepted.
