Incentives
El Paso Water
Utilities offers several incentive programs for customers to help
save water and money. Some may require a small investment upfront,
but will save significantly in the long run. Other programs are
offered free of charge to direct customers and help save water and
money.
Rebate programs:
- Replace a
large water use toilet with an ultra-low-flow toilet (1.6 gallons
per flush), and receive 75 percent of the new toilet cost up to
$100.00 (excludes tax, installation materials and labor).
- Convert grass
landscape areas to Xeriscape and receive $1.00 per square foot
for the converted area.
- Replace evaporative
air conditioners with refrigerated air conditioners (joint program
with El Paso Electric Co.) to get $300.00 per refrigerated air
unit (limit 2 per household).
- Purchase approved
water saving energy-efficient clothes washer and receive $200.00.
- Hot water
on demand offers $100.00 per re-circulating pump to provide instant
hot water (limit 3 per household).

Water Use Review is an assessment performed at customer’s
homes to check for plumbing fixture leaks, sprinkler system efficiency
and discuss valuable water conservation practices that customers
can incorporate into their lifestyles.

- Air conditioner
restrictor clamps are devices that reduce the amount of water
an evaporative cooler discharges. An unrestricted bleed off line
can use as much as 12 oz. of water every few seconds.
- Desert Blooms
Plant Wheel or plant list are helpful materials to identify water
smart plants.
- Educational
Presentations and Programs are offered to help teachers, students
and the rest of the community understand where the region's water
resources are, how they are used and how critical the water issues
are in the Chihuahuan Desert.
Children’s
Incentive Programs
- The Annual
Drinking Water Week Poster Contest in May offers gift certificates
and water conservation prize items for the 12 winners. Every year
students K-12 are invited to demonstrate their talent based on
a water topic theme. The winning posters are displayed on the
El Paso Water Utilities website.
- El Paso Water
and Energy Conservation Program (EPWEC) is 6th grade curriculum
offered by a joint partnership between El Paso Water Utilities
and El Paso Electric Co. The program is an educational tool that
includes a resourceful kit with conservation items and material
guides for teachers, students and parents.
- The Annual
Bi-National Water Festival is a great educational field trip offered
in the month of October. This celebration of water is held in
three major cities (El Paso, TX, Las Cruces, NM and Ciudad Juarez,
Mexico) of the Paso del Norte Region.
