Recharge
/ Discharge
Recharge Natural recharge comes from precipitation, streams, and
other sources of water. Areas of land that allows available water
to enter the aquifer are recharge areas.
Recharge
Artificial
Recharge takes place when treated water is put back into the aquifer
through deep wells. These are called injection wells.
Discharge
A volume of water being pumped from groundwater or surface water
systems caused from pressure within ground formations.
The Hueco Bolson's fresh water has been pumped approximately twenty-five times
faster than what is being recharged. Through increased conservation,
reuse of treated water, and surface water allocations (without drought)
the dependency on the Hueco Bolson will decrease, therefore, reduce
the rate of discharge.
