Staff Presents Strategic Plan Information

The Public Service Board got its first look at the goals for next year’s strategic plan at its Oct. 14 meeting as President and CEO Ed Archuleta explained how the plan is used to improve performance. He said the strategic plan outlines the utility’s priorities and sets the timeline for accomplishing objectives. The information is also used to make decisions when allocating resources.

“Every year the staff brings forth its thoughts on strategic issues to be continued and new issues that will appear on the horizon in the next 10 years. These are issues that we need to bring to the attention of the Board for consideration as we look at our budget,” said Archuleta. “We will present the budget for next year to the Board in the November/December time frame. Our fiscal year is March 1 through Feb. 28.”

Ongoing initiatives in 2010 include financial planning, government policy, regulatory requirements and energy management. New initiatives will include the expansion of the Public Service Board and stormwater construction. The strategic plan will also include 2009 accomplishments in water, wastewater, stormwater and land management, as well as achievements in governance, planning, and energy management.

The Public Service Board Ten-Year Strategic Plan will be presented for approval in December. Once approved, the plan will be available in the Public Information section of the web site.
